At first I was quite pleased with this cooler weather, but for crying out loud it's August. Let me have some sunshine. I guess it is not ment to be.

Do you ever think about how strange the English language is. I remember before I went into the 2nd grade, my teacher had a very strange name, so I repeated it constantly so I would not embarass myself and mis-pronounce it. To this day, I cannot remember her name. But yeaterday at work I was typing out our archives collection (since they are hand written and there is no digital copy on a CD anywhere for safe keeping! I kid you not!) and was typing the word volume over and over and over again ( I was going through magazines). What a crazy word. Seriously, start saying volume. It's bizarre. You start to really pull out the U sound, so it ends up being vol-you-mmmm. HOw did we come up with this crazy thing called language. Why do i call a pen a pen and in France they call it a stylo? And in all fairness I think that the French are probably more correct, since I"m sure the Latin for a writing instrument is along the lines of "stylus". I know that people will say, well we 'evolved' so far away from eachother in geographically different places that we had to develop our ouw languages. And I"m not sure if I believe that. But on the other hand I kinda do. Because we all describe things different, so naturally not everyone in the world would come up with the same name for water. But I don't think that language and the difference in language is based on geographic isolation. It's based on personality and individualism. As well as the need to be the same as people we identify with. So many laguages have cross over or are so similar becuase as people we identify with others like us. So while we all might not say my hair looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket, some people might come up with something along those lines. And fair enough.

So go home and think about our crazy language (even the word language is stoopid). Pick a word and repeat it over and over and over again.
